Music icon Neil Diamond is one of the best-selling and most iconic singer/songwriters in pop/rock music history.

More than just being one of the best-selling and most successful live artists ever, he’s also created and performed the songs of a generation — including some of the most recognized songs on the planet.

In the beginning of 2018, shortly before his 77th year, Neil Diamond stepped away from live performances after being affected by Parkinson’s.

However, Diamond’s live performance legacy continues to be celebrated for audiences throughout the world through tribute artist Rob Garrett, often called “the best of the best”.

Like his legendary counterpart, Rob Garrett was a Brooklyn, New York native.

In the spring of 1974, his parents brought him from New York City to Las Vegas, where, at age 16, he witnessed his first Neil Diamond concert when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Hotel’s “Theater for the Performing Arts” in July 1976.

Garrett went on to see him 16 more times across the country—right up until Diamond’s last American show at the Los Angeles Forum on August 12, 2017.

In 1980, Garrett created his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a decade-and-a-half career in Las Vegas and across the nation before making the move from cover band frontman to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his musical idols.

In 1995, Garrett was selected by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the world-famous “Legends in Concert” review.

What was meant to be a limited run turned into a long-term hit show.

By August 1998, Garrett was back in Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to go independent.

He began a busy tour circuit, building a devoted fan base along the way—earning the title “King Rob Garrett Neil Diamond Tribute Show Las Vegas dinner package of Diamonds Neil Diamond Tribute.”

He continues to sell out theaters nationwide, often in venues fit for superstars.

Garrett has also earned several honors, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”

“Since Neil Diamond retired, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.

On May 19th officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.

Now in 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last 30 years devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.

It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has appeared at more Vegas stages than any other.

Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the only continuous Neil Diamond tribute in the U.S..
